How might we make the LTO more user friendly?
The Long-Term Outlook is a yearly report that forecasts an expected trajectory of Alberta’s load and generation based on current assumptions. This report is an important asset for market participants and industry leaders to help them understand what might be needed for the future of the electrical grid in Alberta.
My role was was leading design and project management from the Communications team. I worked with designers, engineers, market analysts and content writers to rethink how the report was written and displayed so that stakeholders could “choose their own journey” when reading and reviewing.
Usability was improved by chunking information, shortening the main report and separating additional information into smaller sections allowing stakeholders to review only the portions they wanted. The full report now lives on here on the Alberta Electric System Operator website.
